Iroha Sha offers a variety of language and cultural experiences for children and adults.
Whether you are joining a children’s class, preparing for travel to Japan, or exploring Japanese traditions through workshops, our programs are designed to be engaging, thoughtful, and welcoming.

Blooming Japanese

— The Basic Japanese For Young Learners —

Blooming Japanese is a beginner-friendly Japanese language and culture class designed for children.
Through songs, games, storytelling, and hands-on cultural activities, students learn basic Japanese while building confidence and curiosity in a warm, supportive environment.

Children learn basic Japanese through songs, games, crafts, and interactive activities in a warm and supportive environment

Classes are small to ensure individual attention, and students build confidence while having fun learning a new language.

Format: Weekly classes (season-based)
Age: Elementary school students
Level: Beginner

  • Practice writing and reading hiragana, katakana, and basic beginner-level kanji.

  • Practice simple conversations through structured skits and guided speaking activities designed to mirror real-life communication.

  • Through memorizing songs and poems, students will get a feel for natural pronunciation and the flow of words. Singing Japanese songs together with friends is fun!

  • Students will do exercises to expand their vocabulary. There are many fun ways to learn, like games, quizzes, and using real objects.

  • We introduce ways to experience the changing seasons of Japan and learn about its culture through time-honored traditions.

Travel Japanese

for Adults

A Practical Japanese Course for Lifelong Learners and Travelers

Travel Japanese is a practical language course for adults planning to travel to Japan or interested in lifelong learning. The course focuses on real-life situations such as restaurants, transportation, shopping, and hotels.

In addition to language skills, students learn essential Japanese customs and travel etiquette, including polite expressions, dining manners, and bathing culture, helping them travel with confidence and cultural understanding.

Research shows that learning a new language supports cognitive health, making this course especially popular among older adults.

In collaboration with PTSA, Iroha Sha brings fun and engaging Japanese classes to elementary schools.
Children sing, dance, make crafts, explore seasonal traditions, and enjoy calligraphy—all while learning about Japanese culture in a playful way.

It’s just one hour after school, but it’s filled with discovery, creativity, and fun.
Let’s play and learn together!

Kimono Dressing Workshops & Assistance

Do you own a kimono but feel unsure about how to wear it properly? We offer supportive, easy-to-follow workshops and personalized assistance for occasions such as graduation ceremonies or special outings.

Led by a licensed tea ceremony instructor, this workshop offers a warm and approachable introduction to Japanese tea culture. Participants will learn the basics of preparing matcha, enjoying seasonal Japanese sweets, and experiencing the spirit of tea in a relaxed setting.

Ideal for small group gatherings, this experience is designed to feel as casual and welcoming as meeting friends at a café — no prior knowledge is required.
